Tree Trimming / Pruning
Trimming and pruning the trees on your property is important! This one simple process improves the health of your trees, increases the aesthetic value of your property, makes your home or business a safer place, and it minimizes the risk of storm damage by reducing wind resistance and improving tree health & stability. BUT improper pruning can weaken branch structure, encourage growth of suckers that divert nutrients from important areas of the tree, and can cause cuts to improperly heal.

Bottom line… you can’t just trust anyone to do it. So when you need experience you can trust for tree trimming/pruning, Ryan Tree & Landscaping is the solution for you.

There are many factors that go into the decisions made when pruning/trimming a tree. You can request a free estimate now or below is a summary of the different pruning techniques we use:
- Crown Thinning:
Certain types of trees tend to grow thicker in the interior of the tree crown and it is these same trees that tend to succomb to storm damage. We thin the interior of the tree crown so that wind can pass through easier (and it looks nicer). - Crown Cleaning:
We often use this in conjunction with Crown Thinning. We look for limbs that are dead, hazardous, broken, decaying, cracked, or unhealthy limbs and remove them. - Crown Reduction:
First, to be clear, this is NOT tree topping which leaves the stubs at the end of branches and weakens the tree. Instead, we reduce the size of a tree crown by trimming a series of large limbs back to the lateral limb that creates the new tree height. We leave these lateral limbs to serve as the new end of the branches and remove the larger limbs. The end result is a smaller crown with leaves or buds at the ends of each branch. - Weight Reduction:
If you have a leaning tree or it is unbalanced, weight reduction may be the right option. This serves to protect areas of the home or business. We examine the crown and target limbs that will reduce the weight in the area we are protecting leaving your tree safer and healthy at the same time. - Crown Elevation:
Crown Elevation means raising the crown by removing the lower limbs to a safe height. What are the reasons to do this? First, you may want to make your grass easier to mow by raising the crown to just above head height. Second, if your tree is blocking too much sunlight and killing the grass below, we can raise the crown to allow for more sunlight and a healthier lawn.
